New York Fashion Week opened with a strong sense of energy and diversity. At the heart of American fashion, brands including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Tory Burch once again took center stage. The week proved that modern interpretations are often closely connected to nostalgia for the past – a place where ideas begin before coming to life on the runway. This season, designers focused on minimalism, a mix of textures, unexpected changes in silhouette and distinctive colour palettes. In today’s article, we take a closer look at some of the standout shows from New York Fashion Week.

Cult Gaia

With her collection Behesht, meaning “paradise” in Persian, designer Jasmin Larian Hekmat explored personal pain and transformation. The show opened with sharp, structured pieces before gradually moving into lighter and softer silhouettes. The new collection brings together a rich mix of textures, including knitted skirts, shimmering gold chains, jacquard and hand-painted silk. The colour story also shifted throughout the show, with dark olive tones gradually giving way to sheer, luminous shades and touches of pink.

Tommy Hilfiger

For the fashion week, the brand returned to the historic setting of The Plaza Hotel. Tommy Hilfiger brought American preppy style back with a modern twist. Sporty dresses, striped Oxford shirts, oversized blazers and ’90s-inspired sneakers became some of the key elements of the collection. Contrast in proportions played an important role, with fitted pieces styled alongside oversized silhouettes. The colour palette also carried a clear ’90s influence, with relaxed shapes, striped prints and bold, nostalgic tones.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren gave classic American style a romantic and effortless feel. The collection focused on relaxed, soft and elegant silhouettes, including classic suits, delicate silk dresses, chiffon pieces and, of course, refined accessories. Ralph Lauren once again worked with neutral tones, gradually introducing brighter colours. Blue and white, two shades strongly associated with the brand, remained dominant throughout the collection.

Calvin Klein

Veronica Leoni paid tribute to the brand’s signature minimalism. The runway featured straight-leg jeans, silk tops, classic blazers, slim skirts and more. Georgia O’Keeffe’s functional yet refined wardrobe became a source of inspiration for the designer. The colour palette was built around calm, monochromatic shades such as light blue, grey and white.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors offered a striking mix of the 1960s Mod era and contemporary art. A bold colour palette and asymmetric cuts gave the collection a strong sense of movement. The brand’s signature aesthetic was especially visible in the accessories, from structured bags and oversized rings and earrings to clear-lens sunglasses and minimalist belts.

Khaite

Catherine Holstein replaced the brand’s signature tough leather aesthetic with a softer and more romantic approach. Inspired by Venetian architecture, the collection featured lace dresses, pastel tones and intricate handmade details. Lace, sheer silhouettes and fringes stood out among the varied textures, adding movement to the looks. The colour palette was built around soft pastels, balanced with touches of black.

Tory Burch

Tory Burch brought 1940s-inspired silhouettes into the present with a modern interpretation, featuring strong shoulders, high-waisted trousers, cardigans and draped dresses. The designer paid particular attention to fabric surfaces and details. The collection included crystal-embellished dresses, hand-painted silk and soft striped fabrics. Retro-inspired shades dominated the palette, balanced by bold crystal details, glossy textures and statement accessories.
