Every era has its own star – someone born to shape history, someone whose brilliance is impossible to ignore. There are many talented people with a strong vision, but we can agree that “creating an era” takes much more than talent. And if we ask who is the designer building a new era today, one name immediately comes to mind: Matthew Blazy. With his unique point of view, he is creating a fresh chapter for the house of Chanel, following the legacy of Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. And we are sure that this chapter will become one of the most inspiring in fashion history.

In today’s article, we explore the collection that clearly showed Blazy’s deep connection to the house’s past and the way he transforms it into a modern aesthetic.

In the heart of Manhattan, inside the Bowery subway station, Matthew Blazy presented the Métiers d’Art collection. It was a story that brought together Gabrielle Chanel’s elegance, Karl Lagerfeld’s sharp vision, and Blazy’s own contemporary interpretation. Classic silhouettes met fresh ideas; modest shapes blended with bold ones; colors and textures played against each other; and each look carried its own hidden narrative.

The new collection offered a wide mix of silhouettes: long fluid dresses, short and knee-length skirts, wide denim, soft sweaters, oversized coats, and fitted jackets. The color palette also felt true to the brand’s DNA. Neutral tones-white, cream, chocolate- were paired with strong shades like yellow, red, green, blue, and pink. Fabric choices were perfectly balanced as well: leather, denim, cashmere, bouclé, velvet, chiffon, silk, and, of course, tweed – the fabric that Chanel simply cannot exist without.

Beyond the clothes, every detail of the show was symbolically tied to the house’s history. New York was chosen as a city that Coco Chanel herself found inspiring. December echoed the traditional timing of Métiers d’Art collections. And the subway station reflected real-life movement and speed – a reminder that Chanel’s clothes are made for the pace most people live in. It was impossible not to think of Karl Lagerfeld’s dramatic imagination and playful spirit, his iconic themes and locations that inspired Blazy: the 2014 supermarket, the 2015 protest, or the 2016 airport.

The Métiers d’Art 2025 show was a full revival of the house’s past through a modern lens. Every detail created a story where high fashion blended with everyday life. The guests’ looks, reactions, and emotions all proved once again that Chanel continues to bring the elegance of the past into the energy of today – creating a world that feels glamorous, innovative, and instantly captivating.
