New York’s Spring/Summer 2026 shows are now over. As the first big fashion week of the season, they gave us an early look at the main trends for next year. Designers showed both classic ideas and new, surprising details. Many collections mixed past inspiration with modern style.

Functional necklaces
Accessories became more creative. Some necklaces turned into mini-bags. Coach and Michael Kors used this idea in their shows, while Tory Burch made a simple version. TWP even designed necklaces that hold sunglasses.

Headbands
Headbands were one of the key hair accessories this season. They added bohemian style in Anna Sui and R13 shows, but also worked well with the minimal looks of Calvin Klein and the feminine style of Sandy Liang.

Waist accessories
Belts and wraps came back as strong details. Designers used wide belts, aprons, colorful wraps, and even scarves around the waist to make outfits lighter and more playful.

Light blue tones
Soft sky blue was everywhere. Prabal Gurung, Jane Wade, and Tanner Fletcher showed full blue looks, while Tory Burch combined a light blue top with a brown skirt for a balanced, elegant look.

“Genie” pants
Loose, wide pants – also called genie pants – returned. They appeared in Altuzarra, Michael Kors, Ashlyn, and Patbo collections. This trend also connects to Alaïa’s famous 2025 show by Pieter Mulier.

Bolero jackets
Boleros are back on the runway. Aknvas showed light and flowy boleros, Christian Cowan presented bold fur versions, and Tyler McGillivary created denim boleros cut under the chest.

Overall, New York Spring 2026 fashion was light, creative, and personal. Designers played with forms, colors, and textures, mixing classic elegance with new ideas. Each look was not only beautiful but also a way to express individuality.
